TAX EVASION: OAU MANAGEMENT ALLAY STUDENTS' FEAR OF SCHOOL CLOSURE.

The management of Obafemi Awolowo University has reacted to the shutdown of the school's entrance and principal offices by the Osun state  Internal Revenue Service (IRS) officials yesterday over the non-payment of tax to the tune of 1.8 billion Naira.


The Public Relations Officer of the varsity, Abiodun Olanrewaju, earlier today told OAU KILONSHELE about the efforts of the school to resolve the issue.

"We are working on it." He stated

Speaking on further actions by The state government to lock the school, Abiodun assured that the academic activities of the school can not be disrupted as a result of the tax owed.

Moreover, as confirmed by OAU KILONSHELE, registration of freshmen is still in progress and movement of students and vehicles is allowed as the seals placed by IRS has been removed by the school authority.

However, Osun state government has promised not to relent in sanctioning organizations guilty of tax evasion.

In a recent publication, the Special Adviser on tax and Revenue Matters, Barrister Jimoh Olugbenga Akano described the act of evading tax as criminal, saying the state Government will deal decisively with whoever that is found guilty.

It should be recalled that OAU KILONSHELE reported the resumption of 2017/2018 academic session of the university on April 28.

OAU RELEASES FINAL LIST FOR 2017/2018 ADMISSIONS.

Friday, 12th January, 2018. By Olufemi Alfred .O.     In lieu of a recent publication by OAU KILONSHELE about the release of admissions list despite the strike, it has been gathered that Obafemi Awolowo University has submitted the final lists of admitted candidates to the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB) on the 10th of January.     However, JAMB has began the uploading of the names on the Caps  section of the website as about 20 students have been confirmed by OAU KILONSHELE  to have been admitted      All candidates (Direct Entry and JAMB applicants)  , awaiting their names should log on to the JAMB website and check if they have been admitted.

OAU ADMISSIONS MERIT LIST UPLOADED ON JAMB WEBSITE.

      Few days ago, OAU KILONSHELE posted the release of Obafemi Awolowo University merit list for 2017/2018 admissions, it has been confirmed that some of the aspirants have seen their names on  JAMB's website.       Admission status can be viewed on the CAPS section of the website.           Below are the step by step procedures to access JAMB CAPS 1. Visit jamb.org.ng/efacility  preferably using a PC or chrome browser on mobile. 2. Login with the credentials( email and password) you created your jamb account with. 3. After successfully logging in, click on the options button ( the button with 3 dash) at the top of the page. 4. You'll see CAPS under the tag 'Admissions'. Click on it and you'll be taken to the CAPS page. 5. If the page only shows 'welcome', do not be discouraged. Just click on options on your mobile's browser and change the view of the page to 'desktop view'. This is why it's preferable to use a PC. 6.
