  During a media workshop organised by the Megaphone News agency, Dr. Ola Faleye, a senior lecturer of Obafemi Awolowo University advised pressmen on how to be a balanced journalist.

  The lecturer, who is also the staff adviser to the news agency, emphasised on Saturday  that a journalist must be able to  give a credible source  for the news to be published. He further gave an illustration;

  "the news that was widespread on campus, "scarcity of water on OAU campus", before the publication of this news,the journalists should investigate the reason for this  and what the school management is doing to rectify this problem. That what is called balanced journalism." he said.

The workshop titled 'Ethical journalism: expectations and limitations' was educative and enlightening as a journalist and writer,  Joseph olaoluwa, enlightened the journalists present on how to become a good correspondent.

"some qualities are expected from a good reporter such as :providing the 5 W's in the first paragraph of his or her writing,avoiding grammatical errors,must be a well trained journalist,punctuality, hardworking."

   Journalists were also urged to abide by the rules of journalism so as to be ethical in their reportage.
 Good journalism consist of truth,subjective and verifiable. That is, a good journalist's write up should comprise of the truth and also be verified from a good source.

The news agency,The Megaphone, was founded on campus in 1993 with the aim of serving students with undistorted news reports.
