'MAINLY FRESHERS' FEMALE HOSTEL ACHIEVED GREAT FEAT IN INTER-HALL FOOTBALL COMPETITION.

  In the last weekend, female hostels'  teams proved their prowess on the football pitch. During the inter - Hall female football competition organised by the office of the Students' Union director of sports, the 'mainly freshers' female hostel named after the country, Mozambique, took the first position.
   
 
    The competition that was played in Adekunle Fajuyi Hall football pitch had the Four female halls of residence; Mozambique Queens, Alumni Babes, Moremite and Akintolites, as participants.  

  At the first match Mozambique Queens played a deuce of 1-1 against
Alumni Babes. It resulted in Penalty kicks, 6-5 as the score in favour of Mozambique Queens.

    Also, Akintolites won Moremi with the result of 3 goals against none. Alumni Babes won the Third place after a deuce of 2-2  with the Moremite which led to penalty kicks after extra-time. It resulted in 4-3 in favour of Alumni.
    However, in the final match between Mozambique Queens and Akintolites, Mozambique Queens won with 3 goals versus 2 goals.
      During the finals' victory jubilation, Funmi, one of the main players of Mozambique Queens, expressed her excitement.
      "I'm happy we won the competition. We'll collect our Cup today and I'm still expecting other female hostels in the Table Tennis competition." the player expressed.

    In a conversation with the Nigerian former Super Eagles coach, Coach Onigbinde, when he witnessed the first match of the competition; he said;
      "This is a welcomed development and I will see what I can do in my capacity to help this laudable programme".
     
    The organiser of the event, Mr. Adewumi Michael, the  SU director of sports, made known his gratitude in an interview with OAU kilonshele;

  " The game was organised as a means to fulfil my campaign promises to get female students involved in sporting activities. I want to appreciate all the female students that participated in the just concluded cup, all  halls' sports secretaries because they performed excellently well and I want to appreciate all great Ife students for coming out to watch this ladies play. My sincere appreciation to all the S U executives and members of the organising committee." Adewumi stated.

  He furthered by informing Great Ife students that the male edition of the just concluded female inter-hall football competition, start on Friday, 3rd of next month.
