OAU WEMA BANK'S ACTIVITIES SUSPENDED OVER THE FALSE ALLEGATIONS AGAINST A STUDENT


     Ogboyi Caleb Onuche, a part 4 student of the faculty of law, was falsely alleged of a fraudulent bank transaction to the tune of 10 million naira and was arrested on Wednesday, 12th of July by the police around the premises of WEMA bank, OAU branch, after receiving a call for his presence from a bank official on his 'alert' account (a digital bank account) . His case then was transferred to the Nigeria Police Force headquarters in Ikoyi, Lagos state.
    After the students and the university security unit's reaction to the allegation in Lagos , the fraudulent act was traced to a staff of the bank, who was apprehended and sacked. Afterwards, the alleged student was released after spending days at the prison in Ikoyi.
    In the early hours of Monday, 17th of July, the activities of the bank was suspended as regards the false allegation based on the decision of the Students' union in an attempt to bring them to the negotiation table for defamation of character and not informing appropriate quarters before the arrest of the alleged.
    According to Akindipe Israel (izzieman), Fajuyi hall Chairman, he aired his view saying;
     " The bank officials wrongfully alleged a vibrant student who has been representing the hall of residence in competitions . It is uncalled for and they should pay for that. There should be an official apology and vindicative statement from the bank and the police force."
      
    The branch manager, during a conversation with our correspondent, said ;
    " We are sorry for the mistake on our part and the staff involved has been sacked. We implore the university to let us settle this amicably". 
    
    Prof. Olasode, the university chief security officer, made it known in a meeting with the zonal manager and some of the bank officials, that;
     "we've threatened the bank because they should have reported to us first and they made me to go through unnecessary stress, travelling from one road block to the other because of the case of the kidnapped student. We will summon them for subsequent meetings after they've completed their investigations on the case. We have decided that they should resume their business activities."

OAU RELEASES FINAL LIST FOR 2017/2018 ADMISSIONS.

Friday, 12th January, 2018. By Olufemi Alfred .O.     In lieu of a recent publication by OAU KILONSHELE about the release of admissions list despite the strike, it has been gathered that Obafemi Awolowo University has submitted the final lists of admitted candidates to the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB) on the 10th of January.     However, JAMB has began the uploading of the names on the Caps  section of the website as about 20 students have been confirmed by OAU KILONSHELE  to have been admitted      All candidates (Direct Entry and JAMB applicants)  , awaiting their names should log on to the JAMB website and check if they have been admitted.

OAU ADMISSIONS MERIT LIST UPLOADED ON JAMB WEBSITE.

      Few days ago, OAU KILONSHELE posted the release of Obafemi Awolowo University merit list for 2017/2018 admissions, it has been confirmed that some of the aspirants have seen their names on  JAMB's website.       Admission status can be viewed on the CAPS section of the website.           Below are the step by step procedures to access JAMB CAPS 1. Visit jamb.org.ng/efacility  preferably using a PC or chrome browser on mobile. 2. Login with the credentials( email and password) you created your jamb account with. 3. After successfully logging in, click on the options button ( the button with 3 dash) at the top of the page. 4. You'll see CAPS under the tag 'Admissions'. Click on it and you'll be taken to the CAPS page. 5. If the page only shows 'welcome', do not be discouraged. Just click on options on your mobile's browser and change the view of the page to 'desktop view'. This is why it's preferable to use a PC. 6.
