JAMB fixes UTME for May, scraps scratchcard

Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Registrar Prof. Ishaq Oloyede yesterday said the much-awaited Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will hold in May as part of steps to check malpractices.

He also said the agency had handed over 10 officials to the police for investigation in connection with fraud associated with sales of scratch cards.

Prof. Oloyede said JAMB had eliminated the use of scratch cards because UTME candidates were being extorted.

He said: “For the 2017 UTME, we have taken a decision to commence the sale of the form soon. Within the next two weeks, we will be out. The reason for this is that we are making all arrangements that ought to be made. We have changed the process of payment, no more scratch card selling. We need to put the right architecture in place and we have put this in place.

“The examination will be coming up later than usual. This is to make sure we take into consideration the interest of the students. We are going to conduct t…

JAMB 2017 examinations to hold in May

Image
The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) have announced that the 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) will hold in May 2017.

This was made known by the JAMB spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, through the Board’s Twitter handle @jambhq

According to him, actual dates will be announced soon. He also advised candidates to beware of false dates and fraudsters.

“2017 UTME is scheduled to hold in May 2017. Actual dates will be announced soon. Beware of false dates and fraudsters,” he said.

Meanwhile, JAMB registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede has explained why an unusual delay has preceded the sales of application forms.

He said the ongoing switch-over in the major thrust of the sale of form which is the scratch card to direct payment into the Treasury Single Account (TSA) was responsible for the delay.

Oloyede said: “We are changing the major trust of the sale which is the scratch card. Candidates used to buy scratch cards to access the forms online and that has been abuse…

4.6b IS WHAT IS NEEDED FOR THE SCHOOL TO BE IN A GOOD CONDITION- Ag. VC claims
Tuesday, 07/02/2017.

The different workers' associations of the university were gathered for a protest at the Senate building of the school in a bid to complain about the removal of certain percentage from their salaries and also to cry out on the death of a laboratory staff in the chemistry laboratory, which occurred last week. This was done with placards with inscriptions like "say no to oppression " on them.

It was in this spirit that the Ag. Vice chancellor, Prof. Anthony Elujoba appeared at the scene. He addressed the mob, starting from the condolence as regards the death, which was attributed to the irregularities and poor maintenance of the laboratories. The Ag. VC said he wasn't aware of the evil occurrence until 30 minutes ago. After the condolence address, he promised to ensure a training programme for the knowledge of proper handling of chemicals. He then urged them a…
