NSASA's President and Financial Suspended till further notice - Speaker, Mr Mayokun

NSASA'S PRESIDENT AND FIN. SEC SUSPENSION TILL FUTHER NOTICE- SPEAKER
30/01/2017

The suspension of Mr. Olaniyi Dare, the president of the association and Mr Yusuf Temitope, the financial secretary was pronounced in a parliamentary session held on the 27th of January, 2017.
According to the speaker, Mr Mayokun, the president was suspended as a result of a threat poised to a part One honourable, evident in a message he (president) sent on the department's whatsapp platform. He was qouted to have said that "the part one honourable will be dealt with" on the basis of being disrespectful to a senior colleague. All with pictorial evidence. This was brought under the banner of 'gross misconduct'. Recently, the mobile phone of the threatened honourable is missing.
Also, the president was found wanting in the discharge of official duties which is culpable under the constitution of the association. The refusal of the president to present the financial statement to the finance and budget committee as at when due was tagged "failure to meet up with constitutional duties" .
The Financial secretary on the other hand was suspended on the grounds of gross misconduct, which is also culpable as provided in the constitution (article 6, section37) . He was alleged to be used to the usage of foul language and abusive words in meetings, which manifested again when the sports director failed to submit a letter which resulted in to a physical combat. According to Mr. Mayokun, words like "I'll deal with you", "ori e o pe"(You are not reasonable) have been his common choice of words. This has been a 'regular misbehaviour' which the house can no longer condone.
In an interview with the Public relations officer, Mr. Stephen, the suspension was termed 'unconstitutional' because of the boycott of the judicial investigation process of article 6, section 34(i-iii) of the constitution. But the claim was debunked by the speaker who said that "the letter will be forwarded to the judicial council by Monday, 30th of January, failure to forward the letter renders our allegations baseless. But the fact still remains that both the president and the financial secretary are on suspension till further notice pending the judicial council's investigation".

  1. The rate at which Candidates for such posts had rubbed its autocracy is uncalled for. Their position as President and other relevant position has brainwashed their humility.
