Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world- Nelson Mandela

How can we breakthrough as a country if the tool that can be used is in comatose state? This is a question that pops out of an average Nigerian student every time the abysmal state of the Education sector in Nigeria is the focal point of any intellectual discourse.

Going by the tenets and recommendations of the United Nations, which are expedient for any country that desires growth, 26% of a country's annual budget should be expended on Education. This is not because of it's every day effects on all sectors but because it yields an everlasting dividends.

It no longer rings any bell, knowing fully well that the highest Nigeria has achieved ever is 10.43% in 2006. Even the minute allocations are not judiciously spent. Little wonder why the Nigerian Universities Commission(NUC) budgeted 85 million naira for Vehicles while 8 million naira is for Research…

JAC (SSANU, NAAT NASU) RESUMES SUSPENDED STRIKE BY MONDAY.

Friday, 1st December, 2017.
By Olufemi Alfred .O.

In a crucial meeting of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) made up of Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Non Academic Staff Union (NASU) and National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) held in Abuja, it was agreed upon that universities will begin an indefinite strike on Monday, December 4, 2017

This is to protest against the sharing formula of the N23billion released by the Federal Government to settle their Earned allowances as Universities like Obafemi Awolowo University and University of Ibadan have spontaneously reacted to.

The decision was as a result of the elapsed deadline of Seven days given to the Federal Government to explain what brought about the skewed ratio. In the formula adopted by the federal government, the non academic staffs were allocated 11 per cent of the N23billion as against 89 per cent for academic staff in the universities.

FOUR WAYS TO AID THE FUNCTIONALITY OF THE BRAIN.

Image
Brain, they say, is the engine room that differentiate human reasoning; as such, it requires some 'oiling' to reduce the level of its 'friction'. Though, humans only use 10% of their brain capacity, there are still some safety precautions that must be noted to have them it shape.

Firstly, though our society doesn’t support, breakfast must be taken seriously by every individual. You might want to ask how meals affect Brain functionality? Apart from the psychological reasons attached, which the stomach sends some signals to the brain which makes the individual feels hungry; it should be noted that the body is a system: the lapses of one could affect the other. The only way to fuel the brain is by having to eat something. You don’t start a new day on empty stomach. The level at which the brain works will be stressful because there is absence of a propelling fluid. What of those who fast? you may ask. That is why it’s advisable to take at least a cup of water early…
